Award Winning Paper

Pearce Ferriter chose civil engineering because he wants to come up with solutions to some of the biggest problems our generation is facing such as climate change and aging infrastructure. He joined CSUN ASCE in order to help CSUN get recognized as the best school for civil engineering students in Southern California. As the Outreach Chair, his purpose is to inspire high school and community college students about civil engineering and show them what CSUN ASCE has to offer. During the 2019-2020 school year, Pearce hosted many Outreach Events for CSUN ASCE such as CHLA Volunteering Events, STEAM Institute for Educators, and Popsicle Bridge Competition. After graduation, his goal is to join the US Navy as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer. When Pearce isn't studying or working, he enjoys exploring nature through hiking and backpacking, playing violin, cooking, trying new foods, brewing beer, playing video games, and stargazing.
